I’m Kathryn. Thanks for stopping by to read my lifestyle blog. I am a former newspaper reporter and have a B.A. in English. I have spent my post-collegiate years raising two gorgeous kids with my husband Dan and work as a corporate paralegal.

The name of my blog comes from:  Haute, meaning “fashionble” and Angel, because I’m a Meredith College alumna, and we are the “Angels”….hence. . . Haute Angel.

My kids were both still living at home, but one just got married. My son is living at home and is in the process of joining the U.S. Marine Corp. Hence…my almost empty nest!

  1. Southerner. Ex-reporter. Five kids. Three grandchildren. Some similarities. Where we part ways is I’m a Dooky!

Thanks for visitng my online writing studio and for electing to follow my work. And, congrats on the love potion in your marriage. Many of us are jealous of that.

    Cheers!

  2. Hi. Thanks for following my blog – mutual Tarheel Belles….doesn’t matter if the colors are Duke Blue or Carolina Blue….I’m a Duke-y but love Chapel Hill….I am looking forwards to posts from you. I need all the hints/help I can get!

  3. Thanks for following Nutsrok or I wouldn’t have found your great blog. I suspect you’d like my post “Grandma and the Coat from Hell” since you like thrift shops.

  4. Thanks so much for visiting my blog and deciding to follow me. I really like your style Kathy! And I plan to follow you too! 🙂

  5. Thanks for the follow on my blog and please tell me you weren’t really married at 5 years old……….. But maybe that’s what you do in North Carolina (wherever that may be lol!).. Or of course it could be american ‘math’. We have maths, plural, so are more flexible 🙂 I am impressed at the loss of 55 lbs, that’s as near as damnit 4 stone in British money…. bet you feel a lot better and a lot healthier, You look great in the photos and nothing near the age I assume you must be!

  6. Well, Ms. Kathy, I’m so glad you decided to follow my blog. It’s not so often I find someone with so much in common with my background. Although I was raised in an Air Force family, my parents were from Georgia and much of my elementary and high school days were in Florida. So where in the South are you living? And I’m glad you explained that it’s the Southern upbringing that always likes to dress well, wear a little lipstick and jewelry when going out of the house. All of this time, I was just thinking it was the example of my Mama. Looking forward to sharing in your adventures.

  7. An amazing person and an amazing blog. Thank you so much for kindly visiting and now following my own. I shall definitely be returning again soon to learn more about you my friend?
    Kind Regards
    Bob

  8. Congrats on the weight loss! It took me a year to loose 50 and I am now having to struggle to make sure I do not find it again 😉 Keep up the great work and here is wishing you all the best in the coming holiday season 🙂

  10. Bravo on the weight loss…something that’s always been a challenge for me. Sounds as if you have a full and rich life. Thank you for the follow. I take that as a high compliment, especially from a fellow writer.

    1. Thanks for following back. I did a low carb diet for a year, under the supervision of a doctor. I’ve gained some of it back. As soon as I started saying oh, one piece of cheesecake is ok….it’s a slippery slide

  11. IIt is nice to find how you got into fashion.
The minute attention we pay for each thing leads us to evolve a plan of or own which if properly executed lands you in cheer.
That is the way you came up with this idea, I presume.
    Thanks for the follow..
MY poems are my experience of life.
    All the best.

    1. I’m sure many women think this is old-fashioned but it’s the small things like reapplying lipstick, powdering my nose…that make me feel put together and pretty. I love being a woman. We have so many more fashion options, makeup, it’s a fun gender!

      1. Oh, I hear you! big time 🙂 always a lipstick and a bit of concealer in my bag, and mascara under any circumstances. Not much, just enough to make me feel pretty. Then it is a virtous circle: you feel good, you “shine” good and people around you feel good, no? 😉 it all starts with little things..

  12. Thank you so much for following my blog.. I can use some encouragement. This grandma has to get off the couch and start moving, then I hope I will have to purchase a size smaller. Congratulations on your weightloss success…

  13. Hi. Thanks for the follow. I’m following you too now because though I’m not really turned on by ‘fashion’ I see you can write, have a journalism background like me, and intend to write on whatever catches you at the time; I’m all for that!
